Bali is home to some of the best waves in the world. There are breaks on the island to suit every level, from complete beginner to professional ripper. Pros will enjoy the reef breaks on the Bukit Peninsula, while newbies and intermediates will enjoy the mushy, rolling waves in Seminyak and Canggu.

Bali is one of the best places to start your surfing journey as it has such a consistent swell. You can expect waves on the island all year round, and you won’t ever need a wetsuit thanks to the consistently warm waters. The beaches of Seminyak and Canggu are lined with board rental stores and surf lessons are a plenty. The gentle waves on the west side of the island are the perfect place to start learning.

Trip Advisor # 1 Tourist Destination in the World

Surfing is a great workout to add to your repertoire. You’ll torch calories, develop a great core and strong arms and you’ll see some of the benefits carry through to other areas of training. You may notice that there are some distinct similarities between martial arts and surfing. Both have an extremely steep learning curve, but hang in there, as the rewards are great!

At Bali MMA, we offer surf lessons with a private coach. Our lessons are two hours long and include transport to the beach, board rental and a 1-1 with a qualified instructor. Heading to the beach for a refreshing surf is one of the best things to do here after a hard morning of training, so don’t miss it.
